As part of a group show of contemporary artists whose works relates to the Norwegian tapestry artist Hannah Ryggen, I provided some group-woven blankets to display. We also figured that producing some laser looms and holding weaving actions with local school groups would be appropriate. In the end I also had the opportunity to build another floor loom to use, this one incorporating laser heddle elements.

About:

A collection of project descriptions/images by Travis Meinolf, Action Weaver, since receiving my MFA from California College of the Arts in 2008. Originally from California's Bay Area, I currently live and work in Berlin.
My work in interactive textiles can be described with these helpful words/phrases: political economy, labor/leisure dialectic, sensuous meditative process, harnessing productive conviviality, blankets... best to look at some of the projects or read my whole spiel at actionweaver.com
